Breakfast consisted of an A. S. Byatt short story called “Medusa’s Ankles” from The Matisse Stories, a moderately entertaining New Yorker piece on the Japanese mob, toasted crumpets with butter and lemon marmalade, a fistful of blueberries, and loose leaf Earl Gray just a tad over-steeped.
