Ben Marcus reading The Flame Alphabet at McNally Jackson, NYC.
Ben Marcus reads from The Flame Alphabet at Bookcourt in Brooklyn.
IF I WERE IN BROOKLYN right now, or anywhere in New York City, I would be planning to go to BOOK COURT tonight at 7PM to see
BEN MARCUS and to get word wisdom from his head.
HE PROMISES THAT THE READING WILL BE SHORT. Then starts the white wine and nerd flirting!
And truly: he is a nice person and a genius.
THAT IS ALL.

Book Trailer for The Flame Alphabet by Ben Marcus
Hey guys, hey guys, Ben Marcus has a new book coming out!!! (squeal, shriek, yay!)
THE FLAME ALPHABET TRAILER GOES LIVE!
Today Ben Marcus and Erin Cosgrove unveil their herky-jerk, Klezmer-fueled masterpiece. If this doesn’t make you want to read the book, then you are watching too many back-to-back episodes of Parenthood.
As with the recent Black Keys album, it’s recommended that you play this very loud while hooked up to an intravenous Tang drip.
Ben Marcus, author of The Flame Alphabet, provides some great writing advice for writers: “One thing I think that writers can try to do is understand how they read. When you pick up a book and half way through the first page you’re not interested, what is it that’s failing to grab your attention? What is it that’s missing? What is it exactly that bores you? And then in turn when you write, are you doing any of those things yourself?”
