This is me in all my post-performance glory!
I got both of my books signed, I got hugs from Tracy K. Smith AND Philip Levine, oh and I even got this neat tumblr sticker!Tonight’s reading at The Housing Works Bookstore Cafe was beyond incredible. The turnout was fantastic and the crowd was just one of the loveliest I’ve ever experienced. I could feel it from up on the stage the second I looked out at all of the faces. So thank you for that, guys. Also, thank you Saeed Jones for being so sweet and friendly and honest, and for setting the bar high on that stage tonight. Your words and your spirit are unlike any other and reading with you was the most fun I’ve had in a long, long time. And a definitely thank you to Tracy K. Smith and Philip Levine. You are superheros for people like me and it is an honor beyond words getting to breathe the same air! Thank you for doing what you do.
The past couple of days have been filled with overwhelming amounts of love and good wishes and support. Words fail to explain the emotions coursing through me. To say that I am grateful feels like an understatement.
I just wanted to take a moment and thank every single individual who came out tonight (especially my friends who trekked all the way from Westchester, Brooklyn, Uptown, etc. Also thank you to all of the friends who couldn’t make it but were there in spirit. I felt you guys wrestling the butterflies in my stomach.) Thank you to everyone who came up to speak to me afterwards. Thank you to Housing Works. What an amazing organization. I highly, highly recommend checking them out/visiting the book store or thrift store. Thank you to everyone from Alfred A. Knopf Books. Each of you were so incredibly sweet and it was an honor getting to shake your hands. And, of course, thank you tumblr! You are the kindling behind this poet-blogger’s fiery dream and many others just like me. Without you, who knows how many words would go unwritten? Lastly, thank you to each of my dear followers. You guys are truly the coolest group of people and you each do such creative and unique things. Thanks for rocking my dashboard [and giving me a legitimate excuse to put off writing my papers for class for “just one more refresh.”]
Love,
Karolina M.P.S.- Stay tuned, everyone! Pictures & videos coming soon!

Our poetry celebration (co-hosted w/ Tumblr) knocked my socks off. The spectacular evening at Housing Works Bookstore featured poet laureate Philip Levine and 2012 Pulitzer Prize winner for poetry, Tracy K. Smith. In addition, beloved newcomers Karolina Manko and Saeed Jones, dazzled the crowd with their sharp verse.

These four beautiful people brought down the house tonight. If you didn’t know poetry brought out hundreds of screaming fans, now you do.
